Dhangad Dhinga Shibir (Camp) is a 15day course held during the summer vacations once a year and is meant for children in the age group of 8 to 12 years.
The selection process for the Camp starts a month before the camp. There
are nearly 1,000 applicants each year. The entries are screened and the final
list of 150 fortunate children is declared by
Nanda Aai.
The Summer camp includes various activities like indoor and outdoor
games, brainstorming sessions, memory and audio visual games, etc. Nanda Aai
herself dedicates a full day to be at the camp and boost the confidence of the
children.
The spiritual component of
the camp comprises of daily chanting of Maruti Stotra and Ram Raksha Stotra.
This chanting is rehearsed by Nanda Aai with the children. During the shibir,
the participating children fall in love with the recitation of the stotras and
imbibe it as a part of their daily routine. This love for the stotras is
inculcated because of the unconditional love bestowed by Nanda Aai. Nanda Aai
strongly believes that these stotras will help children in wading through the
turbulent times of their lives.
Nanda Aai stresses on the importance of a wholesome and balanced diet.
Therefore, during the camp, children are given nutritious and delicious
wholesome food.
Nanda Aai also gives special attention to differently abled children
(special children of the almighty). Medical facility is also provided through
the Dhangad Dhinga summer camp.
The special attraction of the camp is the chocolate hundi. Here,
children form a human pyramid to reach and break the hundi. The icing on the
cake is the one day picnic that children go for. It has been the most memorable
day for all children who have attended the camp.
At the end of the 15th day, children perform a programme on
the stage in front of an audience of 3,000. It makes the children allay their
stage fright and to face the world with confidence. It is the fitting end to a
fun filled, extremely enriching experience of a fortnight.
In the past 12 years 1,592 children have participated in this camp.
Scores of parents have have noticed a sea of change in their wards and the
benefits of the camp.
The most notable example in the recent times is that of Miss Komal
Satose from Dhangad Dhinga batch of 2004. She scored 97% in the 2010 SSC board
exam. She attributed her success to the daily chanting of Hanuman Chalisa,
reading a page from Srimad Purushartha Grantharaj, Matruvatsalya Vindanam and
Bhagwad Geeta. Many alumni of the camp have achieved success that they
attribute to the camp itself.
